Fredericksburg Square

Commonwealth Architects is currently providing a range of architectural services for Fredericksburg Square. The existing historic structure fronts Caroline Street and sits within the town of Fredericksburg’s Historic District. The building currently serves as a banquet facility.

The owners have retained Commonwealth Architects to renovate the existing building as banquet space and to add to the rear a six-story hotel. The historic aspects of the existing banquet space will be restored and updated for building code compliance.

Plans call for a new three–story addition to be complementary with the scale, material, and context of the existing building. Fronting Sophia Street will be a six-story addition that will connect to the back of the existing historic structure.

This proposed luxury hotel will have 72 guest rooms, conference facilities, two restaurants, one of which will be housed on the rooftop with views of the river and the Historic Fredericksburg District. The project will also include an “at grade” 24-car parking garage.
