One Monument Avenue (Stuart Circle Hospital Adaptive Re-use)

Commonwealth Architects provided as-built documentation and schematic design services for the adaptive reuse of the 122,000 square foot Stuart Circle Hospital Complex. The complex consists of the main hospital and a parking deck. The hospital is located in Richmond’s Monument Avenue Historic District and is eligible for investment tax credits through the National Park Service and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

Plans call for development of the hospital into a mixed-use project that includes 34 high-end apartments with upgraded amenities. The project also includes the renovation of an existing 260-car parking deck.

The rich detailing of the old building, originally designed by Charles Robinson, will be restored and the grounds enhanced with an increased garden area and outdoor hardscapes.
